Cozy Nautical Chic Meets Ultimate Home Comfort

These are the slippers that took over knitting feeds YouTube, Reddit, and Etsy at the end of 2025 — the now-legendary Sailor Slippers! Hand-knitted in classic navy and white (or your favorite bold color combos), they capture that timeless nautical vibe with playful striped detailing.

Knit flat in super-bulky yarn on big 8mm needles using simple stockinette stitch, they start as surprisingly huge, oversized boats — then magically shrink and densify through the felting process (just toss them in a hot wash cycle). The result? Thick, sturdy, incredibly warm felted slippers with perfect structure, a snug fit, and that satisfying squish underfoot.

Supplies needed:

• Super bulky yarn in your preferred colors; approximately 350 grams.
• 8mm (US 11) knitting needles

Emilie Petty learned to knit by teaching herself from a boxed set of book and needles. Once she figured out that knitting smooth yarn was preferable to learn on, knitting became an immediate addiction. Nothing was off limits for her. She believed that taking on a new project was a chance to learn something new. 

Emilie became a part of the Quixotic Fibers family when, after visiting the shop three days in a row and joking about working here, Curtis offered her a job. We haven’t been able to get rid of her since.

Registration and Cancellation Policies

If the minimum number of students have not signed up 3 days before the class, we will unfortunately have to cancel the class. We usually require a minimum number of students only for classes where the instructor has to travel some distance. If we have to cancel a class, you will be notified 3 days in advance and will be given a full refund.

Cancellation: There is a $2 cancellation fee. At least 3 days' notice is required for cancellation without additional charges. Cancellations with 24-72 hours' notice are eligible for a 50% refund. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice are not refundable.
