This is an informal class for beginner/newer knitters.

You will learn:

  • How to get started by casting on stitches
  • The basic knit stitch
  • How to finish off (binding off)

At the end of the class, you will have small coaster-sized square, and you will be able to knit simple scarves, afghans, and washcloths.

Yarn and needles are included in the price of the class.  During class we will talk about what project you would like to do next to apply your new skills, and what materials you will need.

*If this is your second class, please, bring the knitting needles given to you in the previous class and a worsted weight smooth yarn. If you need help choosing yarn, we are happy to assist you. 

There is a 10% discount on purchases the day of class.

Emilie Petty learned to knit by teaching herself from a boxed set of book and needles. Once she figured out that knitting smooth yarn was preferable to learn on, knitting became an immediate addiction. Nothing was off limits for her. She believed that taking on a new project was a chance to learn something new. 

Emilie became a part of the Quixotic Fibers Family when, after visiting the shop three days in a row and joking about working here, Curtis offered her a job. We haven’t been able to get rid of her since.

Registration and Cancellation Policies

If the minimum number of students have not signed up 3 days before the class, we will unfortunately have to cancel the class. We usually require a minimum number of students only for classes where the instructor has to travel some distance. If we have to cancel a class, you will be notified 3 days in advance and will be given a full refund.

Cancellation: There is a $2 cancellation fee. At least 3-days' notice is required for cancellation without additional charges. Cancellations with 24-72 hours' notice are eligible for a 50% refund. Cancellations with less than 24 hour notice are not refundable.
