Olive Knits Sailaway 4 Day Sweater Knitalong Yarn Recommendations and Yarn Packs

Let's do this!  We can knit a sweater in 4 days! (Or 4 weeks, if that is more your style, no pressure!  Just fun!)

Even if you have never knit a sweater before, you can totally do this. 

We will be there to help you every step of the way, from choosing the right yarn for you, to knitting and measuring your gauge swatch, all the way through to the finishing.  If you can't make it into the shop, call us on the phone, message us on Facebook, or send an email.  And of course there is plenty of on-line support from the designer and the whole KAL community.

The story behind Marie Greene's 4 Day KAL is:  

Seven years ago I challenged myself to knit a sweater over a long weekend – 4th of July weekend, in fact. Honestly, I didn’t even know if it was possible; I’d never knit a sweater in less than a few weeks. But I had a long quiet weekend at my disposal, and a sweater I really wanted to knit. Could I do it? I shared my personal goal with my knitting community, and the energy of holding myself accountable to an audience, I did it! I had no idea that my silly personal challenge would become an annual event drawing together a remarkable community of knitters from around the globe. This is not really about knitting a sweater in four days, but about challenging your own ideas about how long it takes to knit a sweater. This knitalong is about finishing a sweater faster than you thought you could — and doing it with the energy, enthusiasm, and the support of community.

This year's sweater is a cardigan with a slip-stitch yoke.  As always, it has a seamless top-down construction.  It can be done in either DK or worsted weight yarn.  We did our sample in Rowan's Summerlite DK cotton because ... we're in Texas!
