Quirky, odd, nerdy — and devoted to the fiber community.

We believe you should knit and crochet with the highest quality yarn you can afford. We are snobs about quality, never about price.

After more than eight years on Main Street in Whitesboro, Quixotic Fibers found its forever home at the historic Katy Depot in Denison, Texas — a vibrant Main Street city with an active Arts Council. In 2024 we yarn-bombed the benches on Main Street for Día de los Muertos, and were invited back for the Arts Festival.

The new shop is simply amazing: a classroom, a kitchen, room for yarns and tools and doodads, and the most beautiful natural light. There is a great big table right by the windows. You are welcome to sit and knit, crochet, spin, tat, or embroider any time.

The shop is owned by Curtis (the Enabler) and Carla, an obsessive knitter, crocheter, spinner, and dyer, and a beginner weaver. When they moved to Lake Texoma in 2014, Carla would walk Whitesboro’s Main Street and say someone needed to open a yarn shop next to Kaleidoscope Quilt Shop. When Curtis came home and announced that space was available, it was meant to be.

Emilie walked in as a young mother, joked that she might as well work here, and Curtis hired her. Brooks — Yarn Shop Baby #1 — grew up among the skeins. His vocabulary includes “she dropped her stitches.”

Carla now dyes in Zephyrhills, Florida, where the local water loves her signature colors. A mother-daughter team bought her Florida shop and reopened it as The Yarn Store — the only other place you will find Quixotic yarns.

What’s with the name?

Quixotic: possessing the desire to do noble and romantic deeds, without thought of realism. As in: I will knit impossibly beautiful things. Of course I can spin all of this fiber in my lifetime. I love all of my teal yarns, but there is an even more perfect teal yet-to-be-dyed.

Knitting, crochet, spinning, and weaving are a grand adventure. Wonderful things happen if you only dare to dream big.

We are proudly crochet-friendly.

Come sit by the windows.
