We've always had a few customers asking about embroidery thread, and have debated for a long time about bringing it in.
Then Laine published Judit Gummlich's book Embroidery on Knits (see stunning example above), followed by DMC's introduction a of an organic wool crewel thread with a palette that is all naturally dyed. There was no question, this was the time to broaden our horizons.
Natural dyes on wool produce colors that have a quality all their own. I can't explain it, when I see naturally dyed wool I just sigh and stare at it for a while. It takes my mind to a quiet happy place.
Eco Vita 360, from DMC, is a 100% organic crewel wool embroidery thread that gets its rich color from natural dyes. Its fluffy quality adds softness, texture and a three-dimensional quality to needlework.
This wool has been dyed using infusions of completely natural ingredients such as walnut, rhubarb, indigo and juniper.
Its even thickness and gentle twist make it perfect for hand embroidery, cross stitching, punch needle, weaving and mending. Crewel wool thread is used as a single thread, and cannot be divided.
100% organic non-mulesed wool
