 This will be an online class conducted via Zoom video conference on your computer, tablet or phone. You will receive an instructional email once you register.

 Do you want to take your crochet skills to the next level but feel intimidated by all the colors and stitches? The True North Afghan Square is a great introduction to working with Jen Tyler’s patterns. In this two part online class, we will talk about color selection, learn the advanced stitches for working the square, and discuss helpful resources for guiding you to find your own True North. You can choose to
work the small square or keep going and make a whole afghan of colorful squares.

What skills will be introduced?

Advanced crochet stitches including puffs, clusters, popcorns, and off row work.

  • Crochet seaming.
  • Color selection and planning.
  • Resources for working with Jen Tyler Patterns.

What materials are provided?

  • True North color planning tools.
  • Detailed notes for working the pattern.

Required supplies

  • The True North Afghan Square by Jen Tyler of Hooks’n’Tales available on Ravelry
  • Yarn: Sample shown in Cascade UltraPima Fine in 3774 Major Teal, 3819 Bachelor Button. 3841 Jojoba, 3724 Armada, 3811 Flamingo Pink, 3701 Cranberry, 3816 Grapeade
  • Hook: E(3.5mm) or appropriate hook to obtain gauge.
  • Scissors.
  • Tapestry needle.

Required skills:
Basic crochet skills including working chain, single crochet, and double crochet.

Instructor:
Anne Jones is a Craft Yarn Council certified Level 2 Crochet Teacher. She is a crochet designer, metalsmith and jewelry artist based in Denton, Texas. She taught herself crochet nearly 20 years ago as a distraction from the stress of metalworking. Eventually she brought the metalwork and the crochet together and it was as great a combination as peanut butter and chocolate. Anne makes jewelry and crocheted
wearables in her home studio in Denton, Texas under the name Annabelle Jones. She draws inspiration from historical architecture, traditional doily designs and the structure of the human body.

 Registration and Cancellation Policies

If the minimum number of students have not signed up 3 days before the class, we will unfortunately have to cancel the class.  We usually require a minimum number of students only for classes where the instructor has to travel some distance.  If we have to cancel a class, you will be notified 3 days in advance and will be given a full refund.

Cancellation:  There is a $2 cancellation fee. At least a 3-day notice is required for cancellation without additional charges.  Cancellations with 24-72 hour notice are eligible for a 50% refund.  Cancellations with less than 24 hour notice are not refundable.
