Under the Rainbow Scarf Kit

This glorious scarf pattern by Jennifer Tipton would look fantastic with one of these mini-skein sets of Dream in Color Smooshy (100% superwash merino, 100 yards per mini-skein).

For the main color (the body of the scarf), you will need one skein of fingering weight yarn.  Here are several options: 

• Smooshy with Cashmere (70% superwash merino/20% cashmere/10% nylon, 400 yards/4 oz per skein) - $34 per skein
• Cascade Heritage (75% superwash merino/25% nylon)  437 yards/3.5 oz per skein) - $11.50 per skein
• Perhaps you have a skein of sock yarn in your stash that you would like to use, in which case you can purchase just the mini-skeins.

Also required but not included:  US #6 needles, or size to obtain gauge.

The designer notes in the pattern description on Ravelry that the test knitters used almost every yard of each skein.  If your gauge is larger than the one in the pattern, it would be a good idea to make the scarf a bit narrower in order to avoid playing yarn chicken.  She says that "the pattern is easily modified to make it a bit more narrow, by subtracting any number evenly divisible by 6 from the stated cast on number."

Gauge:  20 stitches and 48 rows = 4 inches in garter stitch
