This is a beginner sock class for those that already know how to knit, purl and knit in the round.

You will learn how to start a sock and work from the cuff down. Then, you will learn how to turn a heel and continue on to the toe where you will create a spiral decrease.

At the end you will have small ornament size sock, and you will be able to knit simple socks from the cuff down.

The pattern is included in the tuition of the class.

You will need to bring with you:

  • Smooth worsted weight yarn
  • Needles of your preference for knitting in the round in a size appropriate for worsted weight yarn. 

We are happy to help you pick out yarn and needles in store if you don't already have the recommended supplies.

There is a 10% discount on purchases on the day of class.

Emilie Petty learned to knit by teaching herself from a boxed set of book and needles. Once she figured out that knitting smooth yarn was preferable to learn on, knitting became an immediate addiction. Nothing was out of limits for her. She believed that taking on a new project was a chance to learn something new.

Emilie became a part of the Quixotic Fibers Family when, after visiting the shop three days in a row and joking about working, Curtis offered her a job. We haven’t been able to get rid of her since.

Registration and Cancellation Policies

If the minimum number of students have not signed up 3 days before the class, we will unfortunately have to cancel the class. We usually require a minimum number of students only for classes where the instructor has to travel some distance. If we have to cancel a class, you will be notified 3 days in advance and will be given a full refund.

Cancellation: There is a $2 cancellation fee. At least a 3-day notice is required for cancellation without additional charges. Cancellations with 24-72 hour notice are eligible for a 50% refund. Cancellations with less than 24 hour notice are not refundable.
